About Us - Leading-Edge
Excellence | Experience | Relief | Leading-Edge | Team
Comprehensive, leading-edge spine care.
We are trained in all aspects of orthopaedic spine care, including today’s most advanced techniques, some of which we were first to introduce to the area. Conservative, nonsurgical options are always considered first. Dr. Hurford performs electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) on-site to differentiate a muscle disorder from a nerve disorder. She offers specialized interventions that may help relieve your pain without surgery. They include:
- Medication management
- Epidural steroid injection
- Transforaminal epidural steroid injection
- Intralaminar epidural steroid injection
- Nerve root block
- Trigger point injection
Should your condition require surgery, we use leading-edge techniques, instruments and equipment for outstanding surgical outcomes and a more rapid return to your normal activities. Our orthopaedic surgeons are committed to quality outcomes and they each have performed well over 1,000 surgeries. As of May 2008, St. Louis Spine Care Alliance is one of only 36 orthopaedic spine centers in the United States recognized by the Centers for Arthroplasty Research and Education in Spine (CARES). We perform surgeries at the Frontenac Surgery & Spine Care Center and the Spine & Orthopaedic Surgery Center. Our surgical capabilities include:
- Minimally invasive techniques
- Anterior & posterior cervical fusion
- Anterior & lumbar fusion
- Posterior lateral interbody fusion (PLIF)
